š“ Horse Wellbeing
Keeping a horse well on EquestriCraft is about more than just feeding it. A happy, healthy horse is easier to manage, safer to ride, and less likely to become stressed, frustrated, or aggressive. This guide covers where to check your horseās condition and what the main wellbeing stats mean.

š Where to Check Your Horseās Condition
Most of the important information is shown in your horse menus.
- Welfare for care, nutrition, cleanliness, hoof condition, and general health
- Stats for the horseās core traits and indicators
- Daily Care for care tasks that still need to be completed
- Symptoms and IllnessesĀ indicators when something seems wrong
If you use /horse view, or left click your horse, that opens the main horse menu for your selected horse. From there, players can access the horseās welfare and stats pages.
ā¤ļø The Welfare Menu
- fullness
- hydration
- protein
- lipids
- carbohydrates
- sugar
- hoof cleanliness
- overall cleanliness
- hoof length
- wormer status
- daily care completion
- heat status, when relevant
- last teeth float
- wolf teeth removal
Feeding and Hydration
Food and water matter for more than just appearances. The system tracks fullness and hydration, and the welfare menu also shows nutrition breakdowns like protein, lipids, carbohydrates, and sugar.
If these are ignored, your horseās condition can slip, and that can affect overall wellbeing.
Good feeding habits:
- make sure the horse has access to food
- make sure the horse has access to water
- do not ignore low fullness or hydration
- keep an eye on the nutrition bars
Cleanliness and Hoof Care
- hoof cleanliness
/h hoof-clean-tool - overall cleanliness
/h brush - hoof length
ask a farrier for a hoof trim
Grooming and hoof care are part of wellbeing, If these are slipping, your horse is not being maintained properly.
A good routine is:
- complete daily care regularly
- keep the horse clean
- watch hoof condition
- do not leave hoof work or dental work for too long
Health, Symptoms, and Illness
General horse health is shown in the Welfare menu, and that page can also lead you into:
- illnesses
- symptoms
- work needing done
If your horse has visible symptoms or active illness issues, those need attention quickly. A horse that is physically unwell is much more likely to have other wellbeing problems layered on top.
Daily Care
Daily care is one of the clearest signs of whether a horse is being looked after properly. The Welfare screen directly shows whether daily care is complete, and it can send you to the Daily Care screen if it is not.
š The Stats Menu
Important wellbeing-related stats and indicators include:
- stress
- aggression
- frustration
- spookiness
- obedience
- restlessness
This is where you can see the horseās current state compared to its natural baseline. That matters because some horses may naturally be more sensitive, spooky, or stress-prone than others.
Stress
Stress is one of the biggest wellbeing issues to watch.
A stressed horse may:
- become harder to handle
- show visible stress behaviors
- become more likely to refuse riding
- contribute to other behavior problems
The code currently shows that highly stressed horses can sometimes be too stressed to start a ride at all. Stress also feeds into other systems, including aggression.
To help reduce stress:
- avoid pushing a horse too hard
- keep up with proper care and daily maintenance
- pay attention to illness or discomfort
Frustration
Frustration is different from stress, but just as important.
High frustration can lead to:
- panic behaviors
- more difficult handling
- rider ejection in some situations
- more unstable behavior overall
A horse that feels trapped, neglected, or repeatedly bothered is more likely to become frustrated. Some actions help reduce frustration, including:
- scratches and positive interaction
- riding in the right conditions
- social or free-roam style behavior
- group movement in some cases
Aggression
Aggression affects how safe and manageable a horse feels.
A horse with higher aggression is more likely to:
- react poorly under pressure
- contribute to rider ejection checks
- feel more difficult to manage in stressful situations
Aggression can be influenced by the horseās baseline traits as well as current conditions. Stress can also push aggression higher.Ā The best way to manage aggression is to stay ahead of the systems that feed into it:
- lower stress
- keep the horse comfortable
- keep daily care current
Spookiness and Other Behavior Clues
Spookiness also plays into wellbeing, especially when a horse feels uncertain or overstimulated. A spooky horse may react more dramatically to situations, and it can combine badly with stress or frustration.
If a horse seems jumpy, difficult, or quick to react, it is worth checking:
- stress
- frustration
- spookiness
- overall care and condition
š„ Horse Nutrition
Main Nutrients
The four primary nutrients are:
- Carbs
- Lipids
- Protein
- Sugar
These values can be viewed in the horseās Welfare tab.
Feed and Supply
Horse feed can be purchased fromĀ Reynoldās Grain & Forage Co in Ventura. Players can locate it with /compass.
Feed is sold in larger quantities rather than as a single-use item. A full bag is intended to keep one horse fed for roughly 15 days.
Daily Nutrient Loss
Horses lose 17 nutrient points overnight.
While being ridden, they lose an additional 1 nutrient point per minute.
Choosing the Right Feed
Feed should be selected based on workload and nutritional goals.
Horses in regular work often need intermediate or high-performance blends to offset greater nutrient loss. Horses in light or no work may do well on more moderate options such as growth, senior, or broodmare blends.
Supplemental Feeding
Hay is useful when a horse needs extra nutrients without becoming too full from concentrated feed.
When sugar is low but the horse is already near full, treats can help restore sugar more efficiently. Common examples include:
- Horse muffins
- Sugar cubes
- Peppermints
Welfare and Performance
Maintaining nutrition is essential for strong performance. Horses with poor welfare may suffer major stat reductions and become more difficult or expensive to manage.
Poor feeding can contribute to:
- Reduced performance
- Malnourishment
- Dehydration
Overfeeding
Nutrition must also be balanced carefully. Overfeeding can lead to unhealthy weight gain, which in turn can reduce performance.
Vitamin Deficiencies
Some horses may develop vitamin deficiencies at random. These usually require a course of vitamins purchased from the pharmacy.
𩺠Operations and Illness
Routine Care
Most horses commonly need recurring care such as:
- Teeth floating
- Hoof trimming
- Deworming
These procedures help maintain welfare and long term performance.
Optional Procedures
Some operations are not strictly required, but are recommended depending on the horseās use and condition. These include:
- Bit fitting
- Saddle fitting
- Shoeing
- Gelding
- Microchipping
- Weight checks
- Genetic testing
Required Procedures
Some situations make veterinary or specialist intervention necessary. This is especially true for:
Examples of required procedures may include:
- Ultrasound
- C-section
- Tooth extraction
- Hoof cleaning
- Illness-specific cures
Medication
Some illnesses require treatment over multiple in game days. In these cases, players must buy the correct medicine from the pharmacy in Ventura and administer it in the same general way as feed.
The listed treatment days are not consecutive, so players do not need to log in on uninterrupted daily intervals to complete a course.
