📋 Breeding Basics

Before a horse can breed, these things must be true:

  • The stallion must be at least 3 years old
  • The mare must be at least 4 years old
  • The stallion must be fertile
  • The mare must be fertile
  • The mare must be in heat
  • The mare cannot already be pregnant

Horses will not attempt to breed if these requirements aren't met.

In Heat Mares

A mare must be in heat before breeding can happen. You can check if a mare is in heat in the Welfare tab.

How Breeding Works

Breeding is entirely based on your stallion and mare choice.

  • You choose the stallion
  • You choose the mare
  • You place them in close proximity
  • If they are attracted to each other, they will eventually breed

This means breeding works more naturally rather than happening instantly. Once the right pair is together, the main thing is making sure they meet the breeding requirements and stay close enough for breeding to happen.
